David S. Barrie is an accomplished board director and global executive recognized for leading industrial and energy enterprises through transformation, growth, and governance excellence. Over a career spanning public, private, and private-equity-backed companies, he has built a consistent record of delivering sustainable shareholder value through disciplined M&A, portfolio optimization, and operational performance. As Chairman of Advanced Battery Concepts, LLC, Barrie leads global strategy for advanced energy-storage systems, establishing eight international licensing agreements and partnerships that extend into EV charging and long-duration storage. As a Director of Lindsay Precast, Inc., he helps guide expansion into high-growth markets serving renewable energy and data-center infrastructure. Previously, as Chairman of Perma-Pipe International Holdings (NASDAQ: PPIH), he oversaw portfolio restructuring, the divestiture of non-core assets, and recruitment of a new leadership team that positioned the company for sustained, profitable global growth.

Barrie’s executive foundation was formed at Eaton Corporation, where he advanced through successive leadership roles, including Vice President of Corporate Development and Vice President – Asia Pacific. There, he executed more than $8 billion in global transactions, expanded Eaton’s industrial footprint across Asia, and improved regional profitability from negative to double-digit margins within four years. Through his consulting practice, Barrie International, LLC, he continues to advise boards and senior executives on strategic transactions, governance effectiveness, and growth acceleration.

A Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), as well as a member of the Private Directors Association, Barrie contributes regularly to director-education programs on M&A discipline and board oversight. He earned a Juris Doctor from Cornell University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science, magna cum laude, from Kenyon College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
